April Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Our unit on Massachusetts was a great success.  We made our way throughout Massachusetts by learning all about our state, capital and symbols.  We listened to a story book and tapes called Our Country and are continuing our unit on North America and its many wonders.  In science we are discussing the season of Spring, different types of weather, how air takes up space, life in a pond, and how to take care our planet Earth.  Weighing, measuring, math stories, adding and subtracting, counting by 5's, 10's and 2's and recognizing and knowing amounts of coins are just a few things we have been working on in math. Thank you to all who sent in potatoes!  We had fun weighing, measuring and graphing our favorite way to eat a potato, the children enjoyed eating them! We continue everyday working on our language skills, vocabulary, word families, writing in our journals and creating stories.  Have your children continue reading, and asking them the setting, the plot, the characters, the problem and if the story is fact or fiction.  Continue studying their sight words, color words and number words, practice fact families in math and word families in language.  If you go anywhere on vacation or do anything special have your child keep a journal of their events.  They can share them with the class when they return.
